Diego Maradona Excited About His Clash With Saurav Ganguly In Kolkata

India is finally about to introduce itself to the footballing fraternity in Europe as they are to host their first FIFA tournament next season.

The U17 FIFA World Cup 2017 is being played in India and it has got every football fan in India excited about the future of the sport in the country.

But the organisers are not taking any chances whatsoever and already have a lot planned even before the inauguration of the competition.

It was earlier revealed that Argentine legend Diego Maradona, who is easily one of the most popular footballers till date in India, will tour the city of Kolkata before the start of the World Cup later this year.

The 56-year old, who is widely regarded as one of the best players to ever play the sport, is now ready to travel to India just a couple of days before the competition and seems excited about his trip to the sub-continent.

The Argentine will land in the ‘City of Joy’ on the 18th of September and will leave two days later, after a busy schedule in Kolkata.

As a part of the promotion, he will be participating in an exhibition match that is expected to include some superstars of the world of sports in India.

Officially named as the ‘Diego vs Dada’ clash, the match is set to feature Indian cricketing legend Saurav Ganguly, who is expected to sport a customised autographed pair of boots for the game.

The match is slated to be staged at the Aditya School of Sports in Barasat on the Mahalaya day of September 19.

IM Vijayan, Bhaichung Bhutia and Jo-Paul Ancheri are expected to participate in this game alongside the likes of Manoj Tiwary, Deep Dasgupta and Ranveer Singh.

Colombian legend Carlos Valderrama is also expected to travel to Indian for this game and Maradona is not able to hide his excitement ahead of this trip.

The 56-year old will also inaugurate two puja pandals in the north and south Kolkata before heading back.

He will also unveil his statue at a pandal in Lake Town during his visit and is expected to improve India’s chances of turning into a footballing superpower in years to come.
