Dortmund CEO Sets Deadline For Chelsea To Swoop For Aubameyang

Nagendra / 18 July 2017

Borussia Dortmund has sent a message to Chelsea that they might run out of message to make a transfer for striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang this summer as the deadline is set to expire over the next dew days.

Chelsea needs new striker

The Blues are in desperate need to sign a new striker after Antonio Conte fell out with Diego Costa earlier this summer. The Italian manager had told the Spaniard that he is no longer in his plans for next season.

But Chelsea have since then endured a very tough period in the transfer market. They had missed out on Romelu Lukaku, who signed for Manchester United from Everton in a record deal. Antonio Conte is desperate to sign a quality striker up front and is linked with both Alvaro Morata and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang.

Conte currently only has Michy Batshuayi as his preferred No.9, who proved to be a flop last season. But the club are ready to splash cash to sign a new No.9 before the transfer window closes.

Dortmund Not Ready To Sell Aubameyang After Certain Time

Aubameyang is one of the best strikers in the world and was in spectacular form for Borussia Dortmund last season, having scored an impressive 40 goals for the club across all competitions.

However, there has been lot of speculations over his future at the club as the Gabon international had expressed his desire to leave the club for a new challenge in his career.

Dortmund’s CEO Watzke’s recent comments suggest that the Gabon international could be leaving the German club if a suitable offer comes within a particular time frame. The second biggest German side are not ready to let him leave after the deadline as they will find it difficult to recruit a new striker of his potential.

Speaking to German newspaper, Wel am Sonntag, Watzke said: ‘We have told Auba if he wants to move somewhere, and if he has a club willing to meet our demands, then come to us and we’ll talk.

‘But this will only apply within a certain time window, which is slowly closing. We would clearly need to get a replacement for him, which is difficult to impossible in any event.

‘We will wait for a couple more days, but not for much longer. There are no offers on the table for him so far.’

He has also insisted that Aubameyang could earn more at new club with a lucrative offer.

‘There are a few clubs on this planet where he can obviously earn more,’ he added.
