EPL Preview: Cystal Palace vs Newcastle United

Crystal Palace are unbeaten in their last 3 league matches at home and Tony Pulis will be keen to continue this run with the welcome of Newcastle. However, the Eagles have failed to win all of their last 5 competitive encounters against the Magpies.

Newcastle’s away form has been inconsistent this season having won 4 and lost 4 of their 8 away games. Alan Pardew will be looking to improve their fortunes on the road against lowly Palace.

What to expect

Crystal Palace’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea was only their second in their last 6 Premier League games and they’ll be hoping to return to winning ways on Saturday. Glenn Murray, Adlène Guédioura, Patrick McCarthy, Jerome Thomas and Jack Hunt are out injured, while Dean Moxey is expected to start despite being a doubt. Kagisho Dikgacoi limped off in the first half in the defeat at the weekend and could miss out with Stuart O’Keefe likely to come in.

Newcastle could only muster a 1-1 draw with Southampton last time out, but welcome back Yohan Cabaye and Mathieu Debuchy from suspension and injury, respectively. Vurnon Anita and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa are likely to drop to the bench in favour of the pairing. Ryan Taylor is Alan Pardew’s only injury concern

Pulis has given Palace the belief they can come pick up the points needed to stave off relegation and while they’re expected to continue their unbeaten run at home, a draw is on the cards.

Crystal Palace 1-1 Newcastle United
