The Gareth Bale transfer saga has finally come to an end following the Welshman’s transfer to Real Madrid for a world record transfer fee of 100 million euros. However, given the obscene amount of cash that Tottenham has obtained thans to this deal, they have been able to bring in some world class talents in Chrisitan Eriksen and Erik Lamela to replace the void left by Bale. That is undoubtedly going to strengthen a Tottenham attack which has managed just two goals this season, both from the penalty spot.
One of the quieter clubs to be found on deadline day were Norwich, as they got most of their transfer dealings done very early in the summer. The only last minute move the Canaries made was to secure the loan signing of Ricardo VazTe from West Ham, with signings such as Ricky van Wolfswinkel, Leroy Fer and Nathan Redmon brought in to boost expectations at Carrow Road.Norwich have recorded a four point haul, and Redmond was the man to net the decisive strike in their last match against Southampton, following a slow start to the season.
What to expect from the Match
The Tottenham team will have had some time to get used to each other thanks to the international break, and the signings of Lamela and Eriksen in particular will be key in much of their attacking play this season. If they manage to find their feet quickly, Tottenham may challenge for the title yet, having registerd six points from their opening three games.
Norwich have rejigged their entire frontline this season, and have brought in exciting players to replace them, and it seems to be paying dividends for them. With four points from their opening three matches, they will be looking to push on into a comfortable mid-table finish. Chris Hughton’shas brought about a change in style of play, meaning a more cultured approach.
Players to watch out for
Erik Lamela(Tottenham):The Argentine is one of the most highly rated youngsters and this is an excellent opportunity for him to display his immense talent in front of the largest TV audience in the world. If he forms a good understanding with Eriksen, Soldado and company, then expect some beautiful interplay and goals to follow.
Nathan Redmon(Norwich City):the man that has caught the eye since his summer move to Norfolk has been Nathan Redmond, who came in at a snip at £3.5million, if early performances are anything to go by.In his opening three appearances, Redmond has shone, with his direct style of play bothering defenders already.Redmond has already completed 13 take-ons in his 247 minutes on the pitch, meaning he has beaten his man once every 19 minutes, and with a success rate of 65% proving very impressive for the England Under-21 international.
Predicted Starting line ups
Tottenham: End-of-window signings Lamela and Eriksen are expected to slot into the side at the expense of Nacer Chadli and Gylfi Sigurdsson respectively, while new defensive signing Vlad Chiricheș may start on the bench. Aaron Lennon may not start, after returning from a foot injury.
Norwich:The Canaries have settled into a good formation that seems to be working for them, and they are likely to field an unchanged side from the one which won against Southampton at home, with summer signing Gary Hooper out injured due to a shin injury.
