French defender Aymeric Laporte has been the hot topic in the transfer speculations and the Sky Sport’s Spanish correspondent Guillem Balague has stated that the future of the defender is still uncertain, with a bunch of European elites including Barcelona, Manchester United and Manchester City chasing the 21-year-old defender.

It was earlier reported that Manchester City are keen to bring the Athletic Bilbao defender to England, and it is also widely known that the future boss of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola rates laporte very much.

The Spanish writer also spoke that Barcelona have a less chance of signing the defender who has been cuffed with a hefty price tag, if the Catalan giants went on renewing deals of current superstars.

“Barcelona will have to decide where to put their money.” Guillem Balague wrote. “If it is in the renewal of contracts, then they may not have 40-50m to pay for a player like him.”

He revealed that both the Manchester clubs could sign him, and are willing to pay his buy-out clause. But he also hesitated in ruling out a contract renewal with Athletic Bilbao.

“I know both Manchester clubs want him so it might be a matter for him to decide because they will be willing to pay the buy-out clause.”

“It doesn’t mean he will go because he has been linked to them in the past and he has decided to stay and renew his contract with Athletic Bilbao, so we will see.”

Laporte started his career with Athletic Bilbao in the small age of 18, and has since been a regular first team member for the club. He has featured 136 times for the club across all competitions and have also scored seven goals. He was also honoured with a place in the La Liga team of the 2013-14 season.
