Wenger’s DREAM coming true: Arsenal closing in on £43m deal for German attacker

Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Julian Draxler from Wolfsburg.

That’s according to TransferMarketWeb, who claim the arrival of Fiorentina star Mario Gomez and impending capture of Juventus ace Simone Zaza have paved the way for Draxler’s exit.

They say the Gunners have made an offer of around £43m for the 22-year-old, who has been on Arsene Wenger’s radar for a number of years.

Draxler only joined Wolfsburg last summer, arriving in a £25.5m deal from Schalke.

However, earlier this month German media claimed that Draxler had been fined by his club Wolfsburg after demanding a transfer away this summer.

The Germany international gave a shocking interview to Bild a week before, claiming he’d been lied to by the club about being allowed to leave.

Later Bild claimed Draxler could be handed a fine of around £85,000 for his comments, with Wolfsburg showing they are no pushovers.

Still, with Draxler’s relations with Wolfsburg seemingly at an all-time low, there was some hope that the Gunners can persuade the Bundesliga outfit to let the unhappy player go.

Not only Arsenal, Juventus also have emerged as a possible destination, but with the Gunners badly in need of a forward and Arsene Wenger a keen admirer of him, fans will be hoping this is a situation that the Gunners are really on top of.

Obviously, we’ll have to wait and see, and with three or four years left on his current deal, it’ll take a hell of an offer to make it happen. Question is, are Arsenal prepared to do that?
