Former Argentina Star Veron Announces Comeback

Buenos Aires, Dec 29 (IANS) Former Manchester United and Argentina star Juan Sebastian Veron will reportedly come out of retirement to play for Estudiantes next season.

Veron, who will be 42 in March and has not played for more than two years, signed an 18-month contract on a minimum salary, which will be donated back to Estudiantes, the Argentine club said on Wednesday, reports Xinhua news agency.

Having begun and ended the first part of his career at Estudiantes, the former midfielder is currently the club’s president.

He has been seen training in recent weeks after vowing to play again if supporters bought 65 percent of viewing boxes at the club’s new stadium.

Veron, capped 73 times for Argentina’s national team, said he will be available for Estudiantes’ 2017 Primera Division campaign and the Copa Libertadores, South America’s top club competition.
