Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez hints that wages are the major reason for the delay in signing a new contract with the club despite lengthy negotiations.
The Chilean has been the go-to man for the club this season as he has proven his worth when played in a more central role. However, the club has failed to tie him down to a new contract and numerous clubs across Europe were linked with a move.
Alexis is undoubtedly the best player for Arsenal and one of the best players in entire Premier League this season and the 28-year old has expressed his frustration of not winning titles with the club in the recent weeks.
Sanchez is yet to agree to terms on a new deal despite Arsenal ready to offer him a massive £250,000-a-week offer in the new deal. He will be into his final year of his contract at the club and it will be tough for the club to tie him down in the summer.
The player has suggested that his future is complete within the hands of the club as he expects a massive rise in his wages and turned down to comment on his future at the club.
“I cannot tell you now [about my future], we have to wait until the end of the season,” Sanchez said.
“As I always say, it doesn’t depend on me. It depends on the club. What they like, what they don’t like.
“I always said the same, I try to do my best, to support the team, to score goals, to win victories.
“And we will see at the end. If they like that I carry on, or they don’t.
“Whatever they want, we will see it at the end of the tournament.”
Arsenal has some hefty work to do in the summer as there are numerous players who will be entering into their final years in their respective contracts. However, the club made Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil as their primary players to offer new contracts at the earliest.
Arsene Wenger remains coy when the media questioned regarding new contracts earlier but suggested that there will not be any talks till the end of the season. Sanchez has been in incredible form for Arsenal as he managed an impressive 28 goals and 19 assists in 49 appearances for Arsenal across all competitions.
It will be a massive loss for the club if they fail to get him to sign a new deal as European heavyweights Bayern Munich, title rivals Chelsea, Manchester City is interested in signing him in summer.
