Ishan Pandita becomes first Indian to sign for a La Liga club

The 18-year-old football player, Ishan Pandita, has signed a professional contract with La Liga club, CD Leganes’ U19 team, which currently plays in the Division de Honor Juvenil, on Monday, thus becoming first Indian to sign for a La Liga club. The league – Division de Honor Juvenil is the top level of the Spanish football for youth players.
He will be representing the club at the under 19 level. Currently, the La Liga club is placed at 11th rank in the group table.
Ishan was raised in the Philippines before he shifted to Bangalore in the year 2009 when he was 11 years old. He then shifted to Spain to nurture his football skills
“It’s a great feeling; it’s a big moment for me,” he said from Spain. “But there’s a long way to go.
“My first goal is to get some game-time and score a few goals. If I can progress from the youth team and debut for the first team before the end of the season, that will be great,” said the striker from Spain.
