Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has plenty of headaches ahead of their crucial Europa League semifinal clash against Celta Vigo on Thursday as the Red Devils are currently facing huge injury crisis.

The team have lost both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo for the reminder of the season a couple of weeks ago and the problems are only getting bigger for Jose Mourinho and his team. The Red Devils suffered another setback when Eric Bailly suffered injury during the weekend clash against Swansea City at Old Trafford.

Manchester United will travel to Celta Vigo for the first leg of semifinal and are more than likely to be without their genuine central defenders as Phil Jones and Chris Smalling are still currently nursing their injuries while Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo are definitely out of the clash.

However, the Portuguese tactician revealed that he could pick Michael Carrick, Matteo Darmian or Axel Tuanzebe in central defense for the difficult fixture in Spain as one of these three players could partner Daley Blind in central defense.

‘I don’t think they (Jones and Smalling) will (be fit), that’s my personal opinion, I don’t think they will but I know that the players I choose they give everything,’ said Mourinho.

‘It doesn’t matter if I go with (Matteo) Darmian central defender, if I go with (Michael) Carrick or Axel (Tuanzebe), I trust the boys.

‘The spirit is amazing, the group is phenomenal. Fellaini and (Paul) Pogba will be back for that game, so we have more options and we try with everything we have and we go again.’

The recent injuries meant Manchester United have only Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian and Antonio Valencia who could be considered as recognizable defenders in their roster. However, Michael Carrick experience as defensive midfielder could help Mourinho in these difficult times as he is favorite to play as central defender against Celta Vigo.

Meanwhile, the return of Paul Pogba would be a huge boost for the Red Devils as the Frenchman has missed out on couple of games last week due to extreme fatigue after clocking more than 4000 minutes of playing time this season.
