Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has hit headlines as he is speculated to leave the club in the recent weeks. The Portuguese captain was linked with a move back to Old Trafford in a world record deal.

However, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is not ready to sign his countryman, according to reports in Spain.

There have been suggestions that Mourinho is adamant to sign Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata but Spanish media outlet Marca reports that a mega deal involving Morata, Ronaldo and David de Gea will not happen.

Mourinho fears the massive amount involved in Ronaldo’s deal as he could cost Red Devils a staggering €200 million. The club will also need to bear another €25m every year to bear his contract. Considering, the Portuguese international is in his fag end of the career, Mourinho is not ready to take the risk.

It is also well known that both Mourinho and Ronaldo were not on good terms when the former left Real Madrid in 2013. The relationship between them did not go well and it clearly seems to be the problem over the deal despite having the financial power to pull off the deal.

However, the transfer talk looks to be cooled down at the moment after the comments from Real Madrid president Florentino Perez who completely ruled out a move from the club this summer.

Florentino Perez told Spanish radio station, Onda Cero: “I haven’t spoken to Cristiano since the Champions League final — I heard the rumours through the media.

“But, his contract is £880m.

“So, unless a club is ready to pay that, he won’t be leaving.”

The Spanish club is determined to keep hold off their most important player and they are doing all the things possible to ensure that Ronaldo stays and if possible retires at their club. Since the speculation erupted over the past week, Cristiano Ronaldo was linked with Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

The latter have confirmed that they are not interested officially but the other two clubs were continuously linked in the past few days. It remains to be seen whether Ronaldo will leave Madrid to a new club after his recent tax accusations in Spain.
