Juan Mata: Transfer from Blue Ranger to Red Ranger

Struggling Premier League Champions Manchester United are likely to splash in 70 Million Euros in the ongoing winter transfer window and get their progress on track for a possible UEFA Champions League spot if not the number one spot which is too far from the reality. United are lining up for Chelsea’s Juan Mata, Newcastle United’s Yohan Cabaye, Bayern Munich’s Dante and possibly Borussia Monchengladbach winger Patrick Herrmann who is hailed as the next Marco Reus.

Firstly, the Red Devils are desperate to sign Spanish International Juan Mata who is warming the bench for Chelsea on a consistent basis. It is understood that Manchester United manager David Moyes has submitted a bid of 40 Million Euros for Mata, which is a club record. Both the parties are in touch with each other  as the Spaniard is ready to leave Chelsea in order to boost his hopes of being selected for the 2014 World Cup which begins in June.

Chelsea are prepared to sell Juan Mata to Manchester United this week for 40 Million Euros. With the deal almost over, it just requires a final seal of approval from Jose Mourinho, who has agreed the player can go. Mata was absent from Chelsea’s training at Cobham today(23 January, 2014) ahead of their FA Cup game against Stoke City on Saturday. The out-of-favour playmaker could be unveiled at the Old Trafford before this weekend. It was also learned that Mata attracted offers from big spending Paris Saint-Germain, Spanish giants Barcelona and Chelsea’s London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea will also be aware of the pressures of Uefa financial fair play compliance. Earlier Chelsea said that they will comply with FFP over the most recent monitoring period, keeping losses within the limit of 45 Million Euros.

Interestingly, as per reports in UK, Spanish League contenders Atletico Madrid are prepared to offer Diego Costa and Brazilian full-back Filipe Luís to United. In return they want United to withdraw from the race for Mata, as the Spanish club has emerged as candidates to sign the Spain international.

In his last appearance for Chelsea, he was substituted 53 minutes into Chelsea’s 3-0 win at Southampton on New Year’s Day and was visibly frustrated when taking his place on the bench as Mourinho stood in his technical area.

With the way things are going, the Mata deal to Manchester United will be confirmed by this weekend. Chelsea paid 23.5 Million Euros  to sign Mata from Valencia in 2011.
