Kanté scores winner to secure Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace
London, Dec 31: French midfielder N’Golo Kanté got Chelsea a 1-0 away victory over Crystal Palace in a London derby corresponding to the Premier League’s matchday 20 at Selhurst Park stadium.
After a scoreless 45 minutes on Sunday, Kanté gave Chelsea the lead in minute 51 on a remarkable left-footed finish from inside the area, collecting a clipped ball over the top from teammate David Luiz, reports Efe.
The Frenchman has achieved his best scoring record in a single season in the top five European leagues, netting his third goal within 20 PL games.
Chelsea managed to defend the lead while Palace could not get past the Blues’ defense till the final whistle.
With its third consecutive win, Chelsea remained in fourth place, with 43 points, and five points ahead of fifth-place Arsenal, which was routed by league leader Liverpool 5-1 on Saturday.
Crystal Palace remains in 14th place in the standings, with 19 points.
