Liverpool fans pay 19,000 dollars to watch Gerrard one final time at Anfield
According to reports, Liverpool fans have splashed as much as $19,000 for a ticket to watch Steven Gerrard play at Anfield for the last time. A ticket selling website (www.ticketbis.com ) sold tickets for $19,000 each for fans who are desperate to watch their hero for the last time.
Steven Gerrard talked about holding back his tears ahead of his final game at Anfield against Crystal Palace. He also revealed plans for him to rejoin Liverpool are already in place. Gerrard had talks with Liverpool chairman Tom Werner and manager Brendan Rodgers about a possible coaching role. The former England captain has an 18-month contract with MLS outfit LA Galaxy, but he is hoping to return to his beloved Liverpool very soon.
In his final press conference ahead of his penultimate game for the club, Gerrard was asked: “Are you going to cry?”
“I hope not,” he replied. “I’ve been dreading this moment because I’m going to miss it so much but the plan is try to keep it together and avoid any tears, although there’s nothing wrong with getting emotional.
“I’m not really one for attention and I feel a bit sorry for my teammates. All I can do is apologize if I’ve taken attention away.
“I don’t know at the moment what’s going to be there after America but I’ll certainly be coming back,” says Gerrard. “I’m actually sitting here now thinking more about whether there’s a role for me to come back to at the club in the future to try to contribute again rather than thinking about what I’d like to change in the past.
“I have had a couple of brief conversations; I had a chat with Tom Werner and one recently with Brendan about what I am thinking about, short term and long term. But there is certainly nothing in detail. I have started on the coaching ladder but we will have to wait and see.”
