Liverpool Handed Massive Boost In James Rodriguez Pursuit

Liverpool have the opportunity to sign Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez this summer after being offered by agent Jorge Mendes, according to reports in Spain.
Spanish outlet Sport claims that the Reds are among the teams that are asked over the possibility of signing the Colombian. However, the club are not ready to meet his massive €75 million (£66m) asking price by Real Madrid.
Frustrating Season under Zidane
Zidane has considered James Rodriguez as surplus to Real’s requirements last season as the attacking midfielder have clocked the least playing time in his career. Only Kiko Casilla, Pepe, Mariano and Coentrao played for lesser time in the squad last season.
The 25-year old is likely to leave Santiago Bernabeu this summer as he managed a mere 1824 minutes of playing time last season and was primarily used as a substitute in most of his 32 appearances for the club. He was even left out of the match squad for Real Madrid’s Champions League final against Juventus in Cardiff in June.
The Colombian was signed as a replacement to Angel di Maria in 2014 for a record £70m but the move had backfired for Los Blancos since Zidane took over last year. Real are looking to recoup most of their £70m on James as they look to fund for their move to sign French striker Kylian Mbappe.
Yet To Find A Potential Buyer
Despite possessing plenty of talent, James Rodriguez is finding it tough to find a new club this summer as the clubs are reluctant to meet the asking price by Real Madrid.
The 25-year old was linked with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Inter Milan. But Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is not willing to reduce the asking price which remains the major stumbling block for a move.
Manchester United and Chelsea are among the front runners to sign the right midfielder who would be a huge addition to any side in the world. Jose Mourinho is keen to land the Colombian skipper as the club have made an attempt to speed up the talks but they could face massive competition from league rivals Chelsea.
