Liverpool have to pay 15 million pounds for Nathaniel Clyne
According to Loverpool Echo, Southampton want Liverpool to pay £15million for the services of England international Nathaniel Clyne, who is in the last year of his contract. Earlier, Liverpool had a £10million bid rejected and are now considering to submit an improved bid.
It is reported Brendan Rodgers is a huge admirer of the England star and wants him replace the outgoing Glen Johnson at Anfield. Liverpool are currently short on right backs with Glen Johnson leaving Anfield this summer and Jon Flanagan out injured till December.
It is believed Southampton’s director of football Les Reed values Nathaniel Clyne at around £20million and still hopes the defender will sign a new contract at St.Mary’s. Clyne has been impressive all season and has scored three goals in 42 appearances including the one at Anfield in the opening game of the season.
Clyne also made his England debut last November and since then he has established himself as the first choice right back. Earlier, Manchester United were also interested in bringing the defender to Old Trafford, but it now seems Liverpool have no competition to sign the defender.
James Pearce of Liverpool Echo also confirmed Liverpool are not interested in signing Mateo Kovacic of Inter, and the reports of Liverpool submitting a bid for him are not true.
