Liverpool looking likely to secure the services of Jakub Blaszczykowski before the end of the transfer window, according to reports from the Telegraph.
Despite having signed a host of players this summer, Liverpool are still looking at potential deals during the final few days of the transfer window and Borussia Dortmund star Jakub Blaszczykowski had been mentioned as a target for the Reds.
With Liverpool set to offload Lazar Markovic on a season-long loan deal, manager Brendan Rodgers is hopeful of signing a new winger and Blaszczykowski had been seen as a realistic target for the Reds.
Now according to reports from the Telegraph, Blaszczykowski is very unhappy at Borussia Dortmund at the moment after being pushed down the pecking order by new manager Thomas Tuchel and the Polish star is said to be looking to leave the Signal Iduna Park this summer.
He did not feature in any of the three games for the German giants this season.
According to Bild, Real Betis are considering a move for the midfielder but may struggle to match his wage demands.
The right winger made a switch to Signal Iduna Park from Wisla Krakow in 2007 and has been a regular figure in the club’s starting lineup, only for injuries in recent years to see his first team appearances being limited.
The winner earns £1.8 million annually ($2.8m) and is looking for a pay rise. German publication Bild claims Spanish clubs Real Betis and Sevilla are also after the player’s signature before the end of the ongoing window.
But his wage demands is a hindrance for other clubs and Liverpool are looking to use this in their favour.
Sport 1 claims Louis van Gaal could make an approach for Dortmund winger after missing out on Spain international Pedro, who completed a move to Chelsea from Barcelona.
Meeting the player’s wage demands will not be a trouble for United, considering the funds they have at their disposal.
Arsenal are also interested in the Polish international but Liverpool are now frontrunners to sign him, according to Telegraph.
The Polish superstar has 253 Dortmund appearances to his name and found the net 32 times setting up 52 more.
With 70 international caps to his name, he is also an experienced international who would benefit the three Premier League giants.
He won Bundesliga twice with Der BVB and was Dortmund Player of the Year in 2008. He is two times Polish footballer of the year also and it will be interesting to see where the future lies for the player.
