Liverpool are reluctant to meet the asking price from AS Roma for Egyptian attacking midfielder Mohamed Salah, according to latest reports.
The 25-year old is being constantly linked with a move to Anfield over the past few weeks. Jurgen Klopp is in the market to sign a winger and Salah is believed to be their primary target.
According to Sky Sports, the Reds are only willing to pay £35million for Salah which also include add-ons. However, Roma believes that the offer is below their evaluation of the player.
Salah had only moved to Roma last season for just £13m from Chelsea but has looked exceptionally good over the past 12 months. He was arguably Roma’s best player in the attack as he scored 19 goals and made 15 assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.
But the Egypt international has failed in his previous stint in Premier League with Chelsea, which is the biggest gamble that Liverpool are willing to take.
The exciting winger was then sent on a loan to Serie A side Fiorentina from Stamford Bridge before another loan spell at Roma. The Italian side signed Salah on a permanent deal last summer after his impressive loan spell in the capital city.
The Reds have already made an opening bid of £28m which was rejected by Roma. The club are always huge admirers of Salah as they missed out in signing him from Basel when he made a move to their rivals Chelsea in 2014.
Klopp is determined to add more quality and depth to his attack and Salah would be an ideal option for the club which already boasts the likes of Coutinho, Mane and Firmino in their front line. The additional challenge in Champions League could also help all the attackers to share the responsibility with Salah in his prime form at the moment.
The Reds had endured another disappointing season after their dramatic collapse in January that saw them out of FA Cup and EFL Cup. Klopp will have to ensure that similar slip up do not happen next season as they will be competing in Champions League as well.
