Luis Garcia wants Atletico de Kolkata to focus on their own game
Atletico de Kolkata started the season with a 3-0 win against Mumbai City and will play their first away game today against North East United in Guwahati. The former Liverpool star admitted they have to be their best if they want to beat North East United who are playing at their home ground.
Luis Garcia:“We will try to do the same things we did in the last game and try to do our best. We know that every game is going to be difficult, we know that this league format is very short so we have to focus on how we play.
“In the first game we played really well and scored three goals but every game is going to be different and for tomorrow’s game, we have to play the same way. We have to play well, we have to press in the middle of the pitch, create many chances.
“It’s very early to say anything and it’s very difficult to anticipate every game that comes along. Maybe in about three weeks, when everyone has played enough football to know each other well enough.”
Luis Garcia enjoyed his best career days at Anfield, where he won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FA Cup. He also scored the famous “ghost goal” against Jose Mourinho‘s Chelsea in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League. Luis Garcia enjoyed a special relationship with Liverpool fans and they honoured him with the chant: “Luis García, he drinks Sangria/he came from Barça to bring us joy!/He’s five-foot seven, he’s football heaven/So please don’t take our Luis away!” Garcia scored 30 goals in 121 appearances for Liverpool, most of them were decisive goals.
