Manchester United set to sign Argentine star, personal terms agreed

Manchester United could offer up to €30m for Lazio midfielder Lucas Biglia accordig to Football Italia.

According to Sport Mediaset, the newly-crowned captain could well be moving on this summer.

Meanwhile, Sport Mediaset also claims that the transfer will depend on United’s ability to qualify for the Champions League in the double header qualifier scheduled against Club Brugge late August. The will to leave the club will be exacerbated by Lazio’s failure to make it to the group stages. They also have a double header lined up against Bayer Leverkusen on the same weekend.

The Argentine has been handed the captain’s armband this season, but he insisted that it does not make it a certainty that he will stay at the club.

“The fact that he accepted the captain’s armband does not mean it will stay definitely. I do not know what will happen next, in football anything can happen, we will see not only depend on me,” Biglia said.

Le 10 Sport is reporting that Manchester United have surprisingly agreed a four-year deal with Lazio midfielder Lucas Biglia.

However, the Serie A giants are demanding €40 million(£28.3m) for the midfielder, according to Italian sources.

Biglia, 29, is one of Serie A’s best midfielders, with the Argentina international offering a great amount defensively and offensively too.

French media claims that Man United have already agreed personal terms worth a total of €20m (£14.2m) with Biglia.

Furthermore, Man United may face a battle to bring the gifted Argentina international to Old Trafford, as AS Monaco are ready to sign Biglia too, Le 10 Sport claims.

But the Red Devils signing the 29-year-old would certainly be a surprise. Man United have heavily restocked their midfield options this summer by signing Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger, while the Red Devils still have Michael Carrick and Ander Herrera.
However, Biglia proved his class during the 2014/15 campaign, helping Lazio qualify for the Champions League.

Biglia attempted a staggering 182 tackles, of which he won 65, while he also completed 88% of his passes.

Going forward, the Argentina international showed quality, too; Biglia created 38 chances – only Antonio Candreva created more (64). The 29-year-old also chipped in with four goals in Serie A last term.
