The contract situation of David De Gea has been on every Manchester United fans’ mind for the past few days and with news coming in that he has been offered a better contract to stay at the club might be a bit of a relief to the United faithful. De Gea has been the best goalkeeper in the Premier League and the team might have sealed the deal for Victor Valdes but he is seen more like a cover for De Gea rather than a long term replacement.
The reason for this new deal is to prize the player away from the hands of Real Madrid but it seems that will not be enough to keep the player at United. Real do want De Gea to replace Iker Casillas and they are willing to spend a huge amount of money to ensure that De Gea does become a Galacticos but at what price is the question.
There have been rumours floating that Manchester United would swap their star goalkeeper or include him in a deal which contains Gareth Bale. The Welshman, who recently scored the game winning goal in the last game for Real has often been linked with a move back to the Premier League with Manchester United wanting to sign the pacey winger, however that might not take place either as the club still believe Bale has a future at Real Madrid and have never thought of using him as part of the deal or even letting go of his services.
De Gea for his part and Real as well might be biding their time, De Gea seems happy at United but he does want to get a lot more than just a 4th place finish, Real Madrid can provide De Gea with the titles he sop cherishes and with Manchester United not looking anywhere close to winning or looking like a finished article, De Gea could be waiting for Real to make the first move.
Real on their part don’t want to pay over the odds for the goalkeeper as they had signed Keylor Navas at the start of the season and he could be brought into the team to replace Iker if that situation arises. Navas isn’t going anywhere either as he was brought in to provide competition to Casillas rather than be a number two for him.
