Bolton Wanderers have reportedly accepted Arsenal’s £2million bid for their young defender Rob Holding.

The 20-year-old have completed his medical on this Monday evening and the deal is expected to be announced officially by the London club as soon as they agree to personal terms.

Even though the England Under21 played appeared in only 30 of Bolton’s games in the first team, those matches were enough to convince the scouts from Arsenal.

Besides Arsenal, Bournemouth were also interested in the 20-year-old and even made a bid for the youngster but Arsenal were always in the pole position because Holding preferred a move to the Emirates.

An initial offer of £1.2million from Arsenal had been turned down by the club before the London giants revised their bid and added bonus payments, which was also reportedly rejected.

After starting his football career with Bolton Wanderers at the age of just seven, the youngster progressed through Bolton’s youth ranks and was then loaned out to League Two Bury in March 2015.

The Englishman entered Bolton’s first team in 2016 and his brilliant displays throughout his debut season earned him the Trotters’ Player of the Season award.

Though despite his key performances Bolton finished at the bottom of the Championship table and got relegated to the League One.

Bolton’s manager Phil Parkinson made it clear that they will let the highly talented Englishman leave, only if a club agrees to pay their asking price of £2million for the 20-year-old.

Phil Parkinson said:

“As far as I know there is interest from a number of Premiership clubs,”

“The chairman has got a valuation in mind and I don’t think he will budge from that.

“I don’t think he needs to, either, because he is a very good young player and there is a premium on those types.

“If someone comes up with that valuation then the chairman will give me a call.”
