Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has insisted that he will stay at Emirates for the upcoming season despite speculations over a move away from the club.
Lacazette Move Close
The Gunners are looking to strengthen their squad after failing to qualify Champions League for the first time in two decades. They had managed to finish fifth in the Premier League last season and will play in Europa League in the forthcoming season.
The Gunners are in the market to sign a top class striker and are very close to signing to Lyon striker Lacazette in a 45 million. The Frenchman is a proven striker as he scored 37 goals for the club across all competitions last season.
Giroud’s Position At Club
Arsenal already have the likes of Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez who plays as a centre-forward in their roster. The addition of Lacazette to the squad will only make things difficult for Giroud next season.
The Frenchman was primarily used as an impact substitute by Arsene Wenger last season and his role could be more limited for the upcoming season. This has seen the 30-year old linked with the likes of Lyon, Marseille, West Ham and Everton over the past few weeks.
However, Giroud remains keen to stay with the club next season and is determined to win at least another title at Arsenal in the coming seasons.
‘I won a few titles in my career, that is an important thing, but there is another thing which is important for me,’ Giroud told the club’s official site.
‘And that’s that people (see you as a) loyal warrior on the pitch – that you always give your best for the team.
‘And that’s why I want to carry on my good journey at Arsenal and I always want to give my best.
‘I would love to win another title, or maybe more until the end of my contract.’
The news will be welcomed by Gooners as he is a very useful squad player for the team and Wenger would be very happy to have him in the squad going into next season. However, the Frenchman’s hopes of making it to the 2018 World Cup could be seriously hampered if his role gets restricted at Emirates.
