OMG!! Liverpool’s Bid For Former Real Madrid Star Receives Surprising Boost
PSG manager Unai Emery has admitted Liverpool transfer target Jese Rodriguez could leave the club this month.
Jese, who became a fan favourite at Real Madrid having progressed through the club’s youth system, joined PSG in a €25million deal in the summer but has failed to nail down a regular spot in Emery’s starting XI and has started just once in Ligue 1.
Having been hotly tipped to end his Parc de Princes nightmare this month, Liverpool were reported as one of the clubs competing for his signature as Jurgen Klopp bids to strengthen his squad going into the second phase of the season.
Las Palmas, Roma and AC Milan are also thought to be in for the 23-year-old as Emery admitted the winger has one foot out of the club: ‘[Jese] has to play. The possibility of [him] leaving is a reality,’ the PSG boss said while speaking at a press conference.
It was only last week that Angel Ramirez, the president of Las Palmas, confirmed that the La Liga club faced a tough battle with Liverpool for Jese’s signature:
“Jese Rodriguez is a great footballer. He wants to come to Las Palmas, but he is owned by PSG and earns a salary that is of his level – and that is very high,” he told Las Provincia.
“Liverpool, Milan and Roma want Jese and are ready to pay what he earns. We cannot afford that salary.
“With respect to other clubs, we are at a disadvantage and hence we have to wait. But we don’t want to create false expectations.”
