Revealed: The Manchester United XI against Southampton – who will replace Luke Shaw?
Manchester United visit Southampton to take on the Saints in an important game week 6 clash in the Premier League.
Louis van Gaal will not be very calm as his team started their Champions League campaign with a 2-1 loss away to PSV this week. The team was not its best in the match as PSV took all three points from the game. This weekend, United will travel to play Southampton who has not started their season too badly.
Fresh from that defeat the Red Devils will face a strong opponent in Southampton tonight.
Ronal Koeman’s side was held for a 0-0 draw against West Bromwich Albion away from home and will want to bounce back and give Manchester United a scare. Both teams have not lived up to their potential and this a great chance for them to get a much-needed victory in the early days of the season. In this article, you can find the Preview of the game along with the Predictions.
Here is the predicted lineup of Manchester United:
Goalkeeper: David De Gea
David De Gea will be selected ahead of Sergio Romero under the United. Since this month, De Gea has made a comeback to the United squad and also signed a four-year contract extension with the club. With the Spaniard in the squad, Louis van Gaal would not have a second thought.
Defenders: Matteo Darmian, Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind
Marcos Rojo is likely to replace an injured Luke Shaw in the starting lineup. Luke Shaw who picked up a deadly injury this week against PSV after Hector Moreno pulled off a hard tackle on the English youngster. Rojo will be fielded as a center back and Daley Blind will be shifted to left full-back position.
Midfielders: Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Juan Mata, Ashley Young, Memphis Depay
The attacking midfielders will be the same who had played against PSV in the midweek Champions League clash. We expect Louis van Gaal to field Morgan Schneiderlin against his former team in place Ander Herrera. Schneiderlin’s defensive abilities might prove to be handy.
Striker: Wayne Rooney
Wayne Rooney is likely to make a comeback in the squad after suffering a knock last week just before the Liverpool match. Rooney was rested in the Champions clash and will feature tonight’s game.
Here is an alternative lineup which Louis van Gaal can use:
In this lineup, we have provided a lineup which was used by Louis van Gaal in the previous game week against Liverpool FC. The player played well and United won 3-1. From what we have predicted, in this lineup, Rooney will play as a striker and Ander Herrera will be there alongside Michael Carrick in place of Ashley Young and Morgan Schneiderlin.
