French club Paris Saint-Germain have decided against including Italian midfielder Marco Verratti amid speculations over a move to Camp Nou in the recent weeks.
The Story
Paris Saint-Germain are set to play few friendlies as part of their pre-season tour in the United States and have released a poster as part of the promotions.
The poster had the likes of Angel Di Maria, Marquinhos, Thiago Silva, Lucas Moura and Edinson Cavani but did not feature the Italian in the poster which is currently fueling the speculations.
The 24-year old midfielder is considered as one of the best young central defensive midfielders in Europe and has drawn interest from a host of clubs including Premier League giants Chelsea alongside German champions Bayern Munich.
The Catalan club currently made Verratti their top transfer target for the summer. New manager, Ernesto Valverde is keen to have a central midfielder with impressive ball passing skills and Verratti is touted to his favoured option.
Verratti had also expressed his desire to leave the club as he was frustrated with the lack of results by PSG in the Champions League over the past few years. The club had scuppered their 4-0 lead against Barcelona last season as they lost the return leg by 6-1 in Camp Nou.
As part of their United States tour, PSG are set to face Roma, Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus in Michigan and Florida.
Can Barca pull off a deal for unsettled Verratti?
Barcelona are currently looking to strengthen their midfield and Marco Verratti would be an ideal fit for the Spanish team going into the new season. He is being linked with a move away from Paris before the summer as his agent has expressed the player’s frustration over playing in an out of favoured position under Unai Emery last season.
He is arguably the best young defensive midfielder in the world and Barcelona are willing to offer €80 million to secure his signing. After the latest story, the deal could very well be on the cards as Blaugrana are set to make massive changes to back new manager Valverde for the new season. Not many can reject an offer from Barcelona these days.
