Transfer Update: PSG To Make Same Offer Like Real Madrid For Pepe

Real Madrid defender Pepe will be out of contract by the end of the month and will be joining French champions Paris Saint-Germain as per the reports in recent weeks.

However, the contract that will be offered by PSG might not go too well with the Portuguese defender, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.

The 34-year old was an integral part of Real Madrid over the past ten seasons but has decided to leave the club this summer as he has not renewed his contract. Pepe, will now join PSG as a free agent and will help strengthen the French club’s central defense which currently has Thiago Silva, Marquinhos and Presnel Kimpembe.

According to French media outlet L’Equipe, PSG are set to offer Pepe a contract that he is not so happy with. The French giants are ready to sign him on a one year deal with an option to extend it another.

The defender actually left Real Madrid because Los Blancos have only offered him one year deal as opposed to his desired two year deal. Now, PSG are also set to offer him a similar deal which will not be to the liking of Pepe.

Reports in France suggest that PSG’s new sporting director, his compatriot Antero Henrique, does not want to club to offer Pepe a lengthy contract as the 34-year old is in the fag end of his career.

The Portuguese centre back have spent 10 seasons with Real Madrid and have won numerous trophies in the capital city as he was also part of the squad that won three Champions League titles in the last four years.

Pepe is currently on international duty and will represent Portugal in the upcoming Confederations Cup in Russia as the team managed to win the Euros in 2016. He will have a massive role to play for his country as he is considered as the most experienced defender in their squad.

He played a very limited role under Zidane last season as he made a mere 18 appearances for the club across all the competitions and managed only 1460 minutes of playing time.
