Real Madrid Finds Out Weaknesses’ In Juventus’ Back Line Ahead Of Champions League Final

With just around a week left before the high-flying La Liga champions, Real Madrid takes on their Italian counterpart Juventus, the whole footballing world is eagerly waiting for the biggest club football match on the planet – the UEFA Champions League final.

Defending champions Real Madrid, who will be harbouring the hopes of becoming the first team to win the Champions League twice in a row, made it to the finals by beating the likes of Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid while Juventus, who are gunning for the coveted treble, made it to the summit clash by outperforming the likes of FC Barcelona and Monaco. Both the teams are looking in supreme form and the final in Cardiff on June 4 is likely to be a blockbuster.

Both the teams have all their bases covered ahead of the big clash but there is no denying that both of them would be desperate to find out the weakness of each other to cash in on the high-voltage encounter and if reports are to be believed, reigning champions Real Madrid have already found the chunk in Juventus’ armour.

As per reports in Spanish news outlet ABC, Real coach Zinedine Zidane had allocated specific tasks to his coaches to prepare for the match and Luis Llopis, who is primarily a goalkeeping coach but is also a video tactical guru’, has come up with some interesting observations after watching “dozens of videos” of the Italian giants. The news outlet also claimed that Llopis, who had joined the Los Blancos in 2015, has found some defects in Juventus and the Spanish champions are working on those to win a record 12th UEFA Champions League title.

As per the report in ABC, these are the six points Luis Llopis has made to help Real come out on top in Cardiff next week.

  •  Individualise the back three – Andrea Barzagli, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini form probably the strongest back three in Europe but Llopis believes the Juve defence can be exploited if the Real attackers play within five meters of each other. In another interesting observation, Llopis has claimed that the Juventus defenders are “slow” who can be undone by high-tempo football and quick transitions at full speed.
  • Single out Andrea Barzagli – The defending champions believe that 36-year-old Barzagli is the weak link in the Juventus defence and should be exploited in Cardiff. Isco, Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcelo will have to take the onus on themselves to test Barzgali with their pace and if Dani Alves tries to help out Barzagli, Toni Kroos should make the most of the space.
  • Triangles around Bonucci – The Italian international has been claimed as the strongest yet the slowest Juventus defender by Llopis and the video tactical guru believes that Real can go past the Juventus defender by playing around him.
  • Combinations on Chiellini – Dani Carvajal, Karim Benzema and Luka Modric have been advised to make ‘triple wall’ around Chiellini in an attempt to separate him from Bonucci.
  • Possession without taking risks – The Los Blancos believe that Juventus will be happy to defend and will look to capitalise on Real’s mistake when they get frustrated. And in such a scenario, Zidane has advised his players to keep the possession and not take any risk.
  • Ramos, decoy & the front post – While Real have found that the Juventus do not have too many weaknesses in the air but Llopis have found out something. He believes that Sergio Ramos can help Real to break the Juventus defence by heading the centre passes from Toni Kroos and if the Spaniard is surrounded by a couple of Juve defenders, the onus will be on Carvajal, Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane to head the passes.
