Real Madrid players have reportedly made jokes on Barcelona’s misfortunes this weekend on Whatsapp, according to reports in Spain.
The Los Blancos had lost their grip on the La Liga table race when they drew 1-1 against Atletico Madrid on Saturday as Barcelona had chance to square up with their bitter rivals on the weekend.
However, the Catalans had suffered a shocking defeat to Malaga just few hours later as they slipped to three points down to Real Madrid’s point tally. Neymar was also sent off in a forgettable visit to relegation threatened Malaga as the Brazilian could be handed an extended ban after his sarcastic clapping to the fourth official while entering the tunnel. He could also miss the game against Real Madrid at the end of the month if he is to serve an extended ban for his actions.
The spirits of Real Madrid players were on high despite late equalizer by Antoine Griezmann saw their title hopes diminish a little as they were soon put in a commendable position after a rare Barcelona slip up in a key match.
Spanish media outlet Don Balon, has reported that the players of Real Madrid has posted jokes in their WhatsApp group they all belong to and are in high spirits after the defeat of their bitter rivals.
Real Madrid are now three points clear at the top of the league with another game in hand. A league win would surely be high on the club’s desire as they have not won a league title since 2012 despite winning two Champions League trophies in the last three seasons.
Both Real Madrid and Barcelona face daunting tasks in Champions League football this week as Real will face German champions Bayern Munich at Allianz Arena while Barcelona will travel to Turin to face Juventus.
The return fixtures will be played next week in Spain before the club meet in El Classico on April 23 in Santiago Bernabeu which could be the title decider.
