Real Madrid’s Benzema suffers worrying injury ahead of City clash

Madrid, April 23 (IANS) Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema suffered on Saturday a worrying injury during his side’s La Liga clash against Rayo Vallecano, as the French footballer had to leave the field after 42 minutes.

Benzema hobbled, when he left the field due to pain in the right leg. The 28-year-old’s injury came in a very critical time as the Whites still have three remaining matches in La Liga, and are going to face Manchester City in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday, reports Efe.

Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane had to include Lucas Vazquez instead of Benzema, while the Spanish club is already suffering the absence of Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo due to muscle problems.
