Sam Allardyce Keen to Raid Arsenal, Promising Dedender May Create Problem For Wenger 1

When Sam Allardyce took over at Crystal Palace, replacing Alan Pardew, many thought that the former England manager would have a positive impact at Selhurst Park.

Big Sam is known for being as good as it gets for clubs battling relegation, and Allardyce’s record of keeping clubs up is fantastic.

But will that happen with Palace? That’s majorly in doubt as the Eagles have dropped into the bottom three in the Premier League following last weekend’s 1-0 home defeat to Everton.

With a week left in the January transfer window, the Times on Tuesday have looked at all the possible incomings and outgoings at Palace in the next few days.

Palace need extra options at the back, especially in the full-back slots.

Recent weeks have seen the Eagles linked to Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson, although reports have circled that the player has already rebuffed an offer from Palace as they didn’t match his wage demands.

Yet the transfer could be back on, with the Times giving the likelihood of the deal happened 9 out of 10.

Big Sam is also planning a shopping spree at former club Sunderland.

Despite the fact that the Black Cats are also fighting for their Premier League lives, it’s believed Palace could sign two of David Moyes’s star assets.

Jermain Defoe is given a 6 out of 10 chance of moving to Palace before February, with the Times reporting that West Ham have said they will not make a third bid but Crystal Palace are interested. Can Sunderland afford to let him go, particularly to a relegation rival?

Palace are also looking at Patrick van Aanholt, with the broadsheet believing the left-back has an 8 out of 10 chance of moving to south London.

Meanwhile, Yohan Cabaye looks set to leave Palace. The 31-year-old is listed as 10 out of 10 to return to France and join Marseille in the transfer window.
