Shoulder Injury Sidelines Juventus’ Barzagli For Two Months

Turin, Nov 7 (IANS) Italian football champions Juventus on Monday confirmed that veteran defender Andrea Barzagli has been ruled out of action for at least two months due to his left shoulder injury.

“Further examinations have confirmed the scale of the shoulder injury sustained by Andrea Barzagli five minutes into Sunday’s victory over Chievo in Verona,” Juventus said in a statement.

“The defender’s arm will be in a sling for the next four weeks with a return to action scheduled for approximately for two months’ time.

The 35-year-old Italian international is a regular in Juventus line-up and his absence will hurt the Turin giants. More so, because fellow defenders Giorgio Chiellini and Medhi Benatia too had injury issues this season.

Barzagli’s name has also been replaced in Italy’s squad to face Liechtenstein away on November 12 and Germany in a friendly in Milan three days later.
