As time is passing by, the departure of Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea looks closer than ever. According to the sources, the goalkeeper has informed his new manager, Maurizio Sarri he wants to leave.
Thibaut Courtois has pleaded Chelsea to let him go.
In the FA Community Shield final, Manchester City beat Chelsea 2-0, as it was the 5th Community Shield final defeat for the Blues. Meanwhile, both Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard are still on holidays and didn’t feature in the game.
However, Courtois returned to pre-season training with Chelsea on Monday, and he finally broke his silence and said to his manager that he wants to leave.
Spanish club Real Madrid are linked highly with the Belgium goalkeeper. It got revealed that negotiations were done between the clubs, but the Blues didn’t let Courtois go, as they failed to find a replacement for him.
Thibaut Courtois is also entering the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge. And it also makes things complicated for the Blues, as they would not want to sell him as a free agent next season.
Along with Courtois, his team-mate Eden Hazard was also linked highly with Real Madrid. But according to the latest reports, it is known that Sarri has managed to convince the playmaker to stay.
However, Chelsea defender David Luiz believes the departure of both Hazard and Courtois won’t affect the Blues. The Brazilian told reporters,
“Of course. I think Chelsea has a fantastic squad, with fantastic players. I want them to stay because we have top players with the confidence. They know Chelsea a lot, so they know what they’ve had here, the fun they’ve had here. Everybody loves them, and I hope they can stay. [But] if they decide to leave, I think we will continue with fantastic players.”
The transfer window in the English Premier ends on 9th August, and the world is waiting to see if both the Belgium superstars stay with the Blues or not.
