After Cristiano Ronaldo’s shock move to Italian football club Juventus, the Los Blancos are desperately in search of Ronaldo’s replacement. France’s World Cup-winning star Kylian Mbappe was in the preferred choice-list of Madrid-based professional football club Real Madrid.
Mbappe confirmed he’s staying with the Ligue 1 champions.
But after some false rumours, Madrid were forced to release an official statement that they are not trying to sign the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star. And, on Sunday (July 15) after winning the World Cup in Russia, Mbappe also confirmed that he’s staying in PSG.
The striker told reporters: “I will stay with PSG, continuing on my path with them. I am at the beginning of my career.”
Real Madrid and Manchester City (MC) were among the teams linked with a move for the teenage sensation. Although, it was on the basis PSG would struggle to fulfil Financial Fair Play criteria, which no longer appears to be the case.
With a starring role in France’s 4-2 win over Croatia, Mbappe bagged the Young Player of the 2018 World Cup. A feat he put down to hard work and the quality of his team-mates.
“I played as I always do. Scoring in a final is always unique. I have worked hard to reach moments like this, but this isn’t the end, we must continue. I have the ambition to go further,” Mbappe said.
Kylian Mbappe also mentioned that he will be ready in the future for the major challenges.
“I’m prepared for this kind of thing but then you have to prove it on the pitch. International football generates a lot of pressure, but if you are sure of yourself and surrounded by great players, you can do things like this,” he remarked.
The World Cup winner completed a permanent transfer to Ligue 1 champions PSG from French rivals Monaco. It eventually came during the off-season after a loan spell in Paris.
