USA Or Canada Is Set To Host Some La Liga Games

To make the game of football a more global game, La Liga has taken a big step on Thursday. The Spanish league is set to be played in the United States or Canada for the first time. The league reached a 15-year agreement with Relevent.
La Liga has reached a 15-year agreement with Relevent.
Relevent is a multinational media, sports and entertainment company. They have reached an agreement for a joint venture for promotion in North America. It would also be the first time the league has decided to play a game outside of Europe. However, the date and location are yet to be decided.
Relevent chairman and owner Stephen Ross said said:
“This extraordinary joint venture is the next giant leap in growing soccer’s popularity in North America. This unique relationship will create new opportunities for millions of North American soccer fans. They will experience the most passionate, exciting, and highest level of soccer in the world.”
Stephen Ross is also the Miami Dolphins and is a part owner of their home, Hard Rock Stadium and they are likely to host the matches.
“It’s not hard to figure out where we would want it to be based on our ownership with Ross. That part isn’t too difficult to figure out. [The match will be held] much sooner than the public is expecting.”
Meanwhile, La Liga President Javier Tebas believes this agreement will give a major impulse to the popularity of the beautiful game in the U.S. and Canada.
“We’re devoted to growing the passion for soccer around the world. his groundbreaking agreement is certain to give a major impulse to the popularity of the beautiful game in the U.S. and Canada. Relevent has filled stadiums across the U.S. with the International Champions Cup, [and] we’re thrilled to partner with them on a joint mission to grow soccer in North America.”
LaLiga North America will also handle the sale of media rights on the continent. The deal with beIN SPORTS will expire in 2019-20 and then they will take over the media rights from them.
