After a long transfer saga for Pedro, the Spanish 28-year-old World Cup and Euro Cup winner finally signed for English Premier League holders Chelsea.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester city all were linked with the Barcelona forward but in recent weeks, Manchester United became frontrunners to sign him.

But out of nowhere, Chelsea entered the race and hijacked the deal and landed him to Stamford Bridge.

Arsene Wenger seemed “surprised” with the move when asked about it during his pre-match press conference against Liverpool.

With a tone of surprise, he said that he was sure the Canarian was going to sign for Manchester United, as per the reports right up until the final 48 hours when Chelsea swooped in.

And Wenger even made a funny gag about Pedro’s volte-face:

‘I thought he was landing in Manchester, and finally he landed in London!’
