Wayne Rooney Ready To Take Huge Wage Cut To Force Everton Move

Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney is set to take a massive pay cut to make a move back to his former club Everton in the next 48 hours, according to reports.

Disappointing season under Mourinho

The 31-year had endured the toughest season in his career in the debut season of Mourinho at Old Trafford. He was sparingly used by the Portuguese tactician as the season went on, after Rooney failed to convince him with his performances in the initial months.

The English international had managed just 15 Premier League starts last season and hardly played any important role in the squad’s results during the second half of the season. He was primarily used as an impact substitute by Jose during this phase as he failed to capitalize on the limited chances he got.

Earlier reports suggested that Everton have pulled out of the race to sign Rooney after seeing his massive £250,000-a-week wages. However, according to Daily Mail, Rooney will have steep decline in his current wages as he will be earning £150,000-a-week upon his return to Goodison Park.

Rooney is set to sign a two year deal with the Toffees and Manchester United are ready to pay off his last year in his contract which will cost the club another £15m. This move will also help Everton sign their former star for free for the upcoming season.

Lukaku other way around

With Rooney leaving for Everton, Manchester United have agreed transfer fee with Everton over the signing of Romelu Lukaku and the player is subjected to medical over the weekend.

The Red Devils are willing to pay a massive £75m to sign him and the deal will have no connection with Rooney moving around. The Belgian would be an ideal addition to Jose Mourinho’s roster ahead of the new season as he is a proven striker in the Premier League.

The 24-year old is another massive talent and still got plenty of years to play for Manchester United. He had scored an impressive 25 goals with Everton in Premier League and had narrowly missed out on Premier League’s Golden Boot.
