Welcome Boost: Long-term Arsenal target open to move, rejects contract extension

Arsenal have been alerted to the news Alexandre Lacazette is eyeing a move away from Lyon after rejecting a new contract offer.

Lacazette was subject of huge interest from the Gunners during the recent transfer window, while West Ham United are also thought to have launched at least one bid.
However, the French club refused to budge in the market and they were able to keep hold of their star asset, who has scored six times from three Ligue 1 appearances this season.
Lyon were hoping to tie the 25-year-old down to a longer stay at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais and they reportedly made a contract offer that contained a 70million euros release clause.
The France international would have become the highest-paid player at the club if he accepted the deal, but the terms are said to have been rejected.
Lacazette’s future at the club is now in serious doubt and a January exit could be on the cards, with the Gunners and the Hammers keeping an eye on the situation.

Lacazette has been inconsistent at times for Lyon, but an explosive end to the season has seen him confirm his status as a top striker.

He missed out on the France Euro 2016 squad to many people’s surprise, with Didier Deschamps preferring to rely on two target-men in Olivier Giroud and Andre-Pierre Gignac. Lacazette can feel unlucky as he was in great form, and is a lot more tactically-flexible than people give him credit for.

He can play on the wing or as a number nine, while his aggression and power allows him to hold up the ball, and play with his back for goal. He would have added an extra dimension to the squad.

His finishing is very good, as he always seems to know whether to go for power or placement. He is never rushed in the penalty box, and appears to be able to create an extra second to make a decision, rarely wasting clear cut chances.
