India Under 21 men’s hockey team finished fourth in Volvo International tournament

The Indian under 21 men’s hockey team lost to England 0-3 in the third-fourth place playoff at the Volvo International tournament played at Breda, Holland last night. It was a dominating performance by the England team who created more chances and converted those chances.

In the first half, India conceded the first goal within just seven minutes into the game as Horler scored a field goal to give England 1-0 lead. The Indian team got two penalty corners but failed to convert the chances into goals. The Indian team tried but the England defense was strong. The England team led 1-0 at the half time.

In the second half for the first 12 minutes nobody was able to create chances. In the 47th minute Horler scored another field goal to give England 2-0 lead. The England team kept on the pressure on the Indian team and attacked the Indian goal. In the 68th minute Hatherley scored a brilliant field goal to give England 3-0 win and secure the team third place.

The Indian team performed well in the tournament finishing fourth winning 2 matches, drawing 1 and losing 3 matches. In the first two matches the Indian performed well, lost the next 2 matches, before drawing the next one and losing the third fourth playoffs match.

The Indian women’s hockey team lost to England by 0-1.
