Junior Hockey Asia Cup: Indian team starts with a bang notching up a 13-0 win
The Indian women’s junior hockey team trash North Korea in their first match of the 7th Junior Asia Cup played at China just a few moments ago. It was a dominating performance by Indian team who outplayed North Korea in all departments. The Indian team never faced North Korea ever in their history but did not take them lightly.
In the first half, the Indian team played some attacking hockey as Preeti Dubey scored the first goal for India. The Indian team attacked the North Korea goal but could not succeed. the Indian attacked more and Jaspreet Kaur scored the second goal in the 20th minute. The third fourth, fifth and sixth goal was scored in the span of 10 minutes by Navneet, captain Rani, Lilly and Punam to put the match out of North Korea reach before the end of first half.
In the second half, the Indian team attacked more as captain Rani scored 3 more goals in the 43rd, 44th and 46th minute to take a commanding lead of 9-0. Lilima Minz scored the 10th goal in the 51st minute. Rani scored the 11th goal of the match in the 52nd minute. Navneet Kaur scored the 12th goal in the 64th minute while Preeti Dubey scored the 13th goal in the 69th minute. India got off to a brilliant start in the tournament by winning the first match 13-0.
They will take on Singapore in the next match. They would like to win the tournament which will help them to qualify for the World Cup 2016 in Chile. They are placed with Singapore, Malaysia, China and DPR Korea
