Indian eves loses to China in under 21 Volvo International
The Indian women’s hockey team lost to China 2-4 in their third league match at the under 21 Volvo International tournament played at Breda, Holland just a few moments ago. It was a fighting performance by the Indian team but China won the match.
In the first half India possessing the ball, made swift attacks on the goalpost. In the 9th minute Punam Barla scored a field goal to give India a 1-0 lead. In the 16th minute China Mang Yuan scored a field goal to level the scores at 1-1. China continued to attack and Mengling Zhong converted a field goal to give China a 2-1. The teams tried to attack but were not able to score the goals. At the end of first half China led 2-1.
In the second half China continued to dominate and put pressure on the Indian defense. In the 51st minute China was awarded a penalty corner which was converted by Zixia Ou to give China a 3-1. Soon after the Indians bounced back into the game Anupa Barla scored the field goal in the 66th minute to reduce the gap to 2-3. In the last minute of the game China scored Mang Yuan scored a field goal to give China a 4-2 win. Inidan eves, earlier, had drawn the previous match against Germany 4-4.
