After losing to China yesterday, the Indian junior hockey team trashed Malaysia 9-1 in the last group stage match played at China today. It was a dominating performance by the Indian women’s team who outplayed Malaysia team in all departments.
In the first half the Indian eves started on attacking note and penetrated the Malaysian circle in the early minutes of the game. Preeti Dubey rushed into the Malaysian circle and played a cross ball to Rani Rampal to score the goal for India in the 8th minute. In the 15th minute Jaspreet Kaur earned a penalty corner and was converted into a goal to give India 2-0 lead. The Indian team dominated the game and in the 30th minute Preeti Dubey scored another goal to give India 3-0 lead. Malaysia pulled one goal back as Mohd Saiuti Norfaiezh scored with field strike before the end of first half. At the end of first India led 3-1.
In the second half, Indian girls continued to dominate the Malaysian defense. In the span of six minutes, India scored 4 goals in the 37th, 39th , 41st and 42nd minute to give India a commanding 7-1 lead. Punam Balra deflected in running ball in the 51st minute to help India score the 8th goal. Jaspreet scored her second goal from penalty corner in the final minute to give India a commanding 9-1. With this India has qualified for the semi finals which will be played on Saturday.
