In a bid to reinforce the preparation for the Rio Olympics Sardar Singh, the captain of Indian hockey team, wants a sports psychologist for the national team on a regular basis. The Indian skipper, speaking on the issue from Mumbai on Monday on his way back to his home at Chandigarh said, “During the preparatory camp at Bangalore SAI before the Hockey World League finals a female sports psychologist of SAI attended our camp and took classes for only two days. And that classes benefitted us a lot.” She gave us a lot of inspirational messages and also advised one important thing that we must talk to each other during our matches. Talking in between us always helps to build up team spirit and enhance performance. But we failed to to materialize her instructions in our early matches in the Hockey World League finals. And that caused our poor start in the tournament.”

Sardar added clarifying, “I have planned to request Hockey India top brass to appoint one qualified sports psychologist on a regular basis during our national preparatory camps when it will start again after the end of Hockey India League, starting 3rd January.”

The Indian skipper when asked about any gain along with bronze medal in he tournament, said, “Rupinderpal Singh has been our gain in Hockey World League finals. He delivered superb show. If he can work hard then he will be the pride of Indian hockey in future.”
