India lost to Australia 1-5 in their second match of 25th Sultan Azlan Shah Tournament played at Ipoh, Malaysia few minutes ago. It was a dominating performance by Australian team who outplayed the Indian team in all departments.

In the first quarter, the Indian team started on an aggressive note as Ramandeep missed a chance of scoring a goal in the 2nd minute. Indian team missed another chance of scoring a goal. In the 5th minute Australia earned a penalty corner and Grovers converted the penalty corner into a goal to give Australia 1-0 lead. In the 8th minute, India earned their first penalty corner and Rupinder Pal Singh converted the penalty corner into a goal to level the score at 1-1. In the 10th minute, Jamie Dwyer gave a pass to Wheaton which was converted into a goal to give Australia a 2-1 lead. At the end of first quarter, Australia led India 2-1.

In the second quarter, the Indian team had chances but they were unable to convert goals. In the 5th minute, Ockedon hit a powerful stroke to convert into a goal giving Australia 3-1 lead. The Indian team were not able to play aggressive hockey against a solid Australian defense. In the 10th minute, Jamie Dwyer gave a pass to Orchard to hit the goal to give Australia 4-1 lead. At the end of second quarter Australia led 4-1.

In the third quarter, the Indian team played aggressive hockey but were not able to convert chances into goals. The Australian defense looked solid and never allowed the Indian forwards to attack. At the end of 3rd quarter, Australia still led 4-1.

In the fourth quarter, the Indian team earned a penalty corner in the 2nd minute but the shot went wide of the goal post. The Indian team did try their best to score goals. In the 8th minute, Simon Orchard scored a field to give Australian team a commanding 5-1 lead. In the 12th minute, Australia earned their second penalty corner but was well defended by Rupinder. Australia won the match by 5-1.

India’s next match will be against Canada on 10th April.
