The Holland women’s hockey team defeats India 7-0 in the quarter finals of the World Hockey League semi finals played at Anterwp, Belgium. It was a dominating performance by number 1 team in the World and India had no answer for them.

In the first quarter, Holland eves scored from attacking move in the 1st minute as Van Ass put the ball into the net to give Holland 1-0 lead. On 3.25 minutes India made a good move but was easily saved by Dutch goalkeeper. On 8.23 minutes Holland women earned a penalty corner and Welten scored the goal to make it 2-0 for Holland. On 12.40 minutes Holland earned another penalty corner but was well defended by India. At the end of first quarter Holland led 2-0.

In the second quarter also Holland women earned their third penalty corner in the 1st minute and deflection shot by Maasker gave Holland a 3-0 lead. In the 3rd minute Zebro scored a field goal and gave Holland a 4-0 lead. Holland earned another penalty corner in the 8th minute and Maasker scored another goal to give Holland a commanding a 5-0 lead. At the end of 2nd quarter Holland women led 5-0.



In the third quarter Holland dominated again by earning a penalty corner on 3.17 minutes but was well saved by the Indian goalkeeper. The Indian team did play a much improved game by entering the “D” of Holland. The Indian earned 2 penalty corners but did not able to convert chance into goal. At the end of 3rd quarter Holland led 5-0.

In the 4th quarter Holland dominated again. They got the 6th goal in the 6th minute by the means of field goal to give Holland a commanding 6-0 lead. Holland earned another penalty corner and was converted by Maasker in the 9th minute to give Holland the 7th goal. At the end Holland won the match 7-0. Holland entered the “D” of India 32 times and India entered only 9 times.

India will play Italy for 5-8th playoffs next.
