Tokyo, Feb 28 (IANS) A total of 37,000 people on Sunday participated in the 10th edition of the Tokyo Marathon.
The marathon started at 9.00 a.m. from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building in the business district of Shinjuku, EFE news reported.
The first place winner, and winner of the men’s category, who completed the full marathon in just under two hours, seven minutes was Feyisa Lilesa of Ethiopia.
The first place winner in the women’s category was Helah Kiprop of Kenya, who finished in two hours, 27 minutes.
Prize money of $500,000 for the top winners will be “awarded in accordance with separate rules”, according to authorities.
