Japan make emotional celebration after incredible victory over South Africa 

The biggest upset of the 2015 Rugby World Cup happened yesterday night when the world no. 13 Japan surprised the world by defeating mighty no. 3 South Africa at  Brighton Community Stadium on Saturday, September 19. 

Japan has been qualified in each of the Rugby World Cup tournament since the tournament’s inception in 1987. But, the land of sunrise did not advance past the pool stage in any of the previous seven tournaments. Japan’s Rugby World Cup record after this victory reads: won 1, drawn 1, lost 22.

So, when the shock of all shocks happened in a tournament which comes with a vague promise that something surprising will happen. But, nobody expected that biggest upset would happen in the second day of the tournament as  Japan would defeat South Africa, the two-time world champion. The margin was close 34-32.

This is Japan’s only second win in the Rugby World Cup. Their first win came against Zimbabwe in the 1991 tournament.

As the Cherry Blossoms was overshadowed by the proudest, cruelest, strongest rugby nation on the planet. This victory seems like sunshine for Japan, who are known for baseball the 20 nation tournament Japan.

Japan’s upset victory leaves the Poll B wide open as Scotland and Pacific island Samoa are caught by disbelief. Japan entered the qualification battle for the next stage. Japan in their next match will play Scotland, who are also mightier than the Asia only hope in the Rugby World Cup.

Japanese players and  supporters made an emotional celebration while devastated South Africa were kneeling.
