In Indian contingent some of the athletes performed well in Asian games 2014. Few of the Indian athletes were participated in such a big event for the first and they did exceptionally well to win a medal for the country which had the Chinese and Koreans who have been dominating these games. India won 10 silver medals in 2014 Asian games.
Firstly, it is Sourav ghosal a squash player did a good job of getting into finals of singles event. In the final he was leading 2 games to nil and was at game point, lost out on focus and had to settle with silver. In team events, the Indian team played brillantly till the final and lost out to the Malaysians. The achievement of these girls has set a benchmark for the youngsters to take the game and represent the contry at such big level.
Khusbir Kaur did the country proud by winning the silver medal for the country in 20 Km race walk. He was the first women to win a medal in Asian games which showed her grit and determination to succeed at the highest level.
Sanam Singh won the gold medal with another partner in Asian games 2010. This time Sanam Singh with Saketh did well to reach the finals of the doubles but lost out to Koreans.
In Wrestling, Bajrang Punia did fight very well till the finals. He showed great character to fight back in every bout. Hopefully he can win a gold medal for the country in Asian games 2018.
In Archey Abhishek Verma a member of gold medal winning team in compund team event had to settle with sliver in indvidual event. He lost out to an Iran archerer. His focus will stead him in future and win a gold medal.
In Athletics, Vikas Gowda who was the gold medalist in Commonwealth games 2014 did not repeat the feat in Asian games 2014. He is a very good discus thrower. Apart from this Tintu Luka ran very fast in first few minutes and lost out on the speed which costs her the gold medal. Another silver medalist Manju Bala was promoted to silver medal after the chinese player was tested positive.
