2008 Beijing Olympics Bronze medal winning Indian Boxer Vijender Singh is all set to be sacked from his post as DSP in the Haryana police if he turns into a professional boxer. Haryana ADGP (administration) K K Sharma said on Tuesday that they would authenticate reports before initiating any action.

Sharma also said that Vijender, who is currently on probation and yet to complete his training can resign the post on his own if he goes to professional boxing. If he doesn’t do so, he will be sacked. After turning professional, Vijender no longer remains eligible to represent India in the Olympics

He said: He may also resign from the service on his own if he has decided to go professional. If he doesn’t do this then disciplinary action can be initiated against him and he can be removed. We will issue a notice to him to know seeking version. He will be asked to explain his position.

Being a government employee Vijender cannot accept another employment and can not accept remuneration from any other source without the government’s permission. However, we cannot take action merely on the basis of media reports, Sharma added.
