Abid Ali Advised Two Months’ Rest After Undergoing Angioplasty

The Pakistan batter Abid Ali has been advised two months’ rest after undergoing a second procedure for a heart condition on Thursday. The opener was rushed to the hospital earlier this week when he complained of chest pain during a first-class match at Karachi.
“He has been advised to take a two-month break after which they will assess him again.” A source close to the player told PTI.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also confirmed the developments.
“Abid Ali on Thursday commenced his rehabilitation. As part of his rehabilitation process, he did light walking in the morning without showing any discomfort. He will continue his rehab in the hospital until he is discharged early next week.” PCB tweeted.

Earlier on Wednesday, the PCB also informed about Abid’s second procedure.
“Abid underwent a second procedure today. The procedure was successfully completed and he is recovering. PCB medical team is liaising with Interventional Cardiologist regarding further treatment and rehabilitation. Abid is currently stable.” The board tweeted on Wednesday
Abid Ali was batting on 61 for Central Punjab in a Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match when the incident happened. The team manager immediately rushed him to the hospital after the batter complained of chest pain and uneasiness in his shoulder on Tuesday.
After the second procedure, Abid Ali was quoted as saying, “I am thankful to God as I am faring well. I request all of you to pray for me as I have a small medical procedure tomorrow. So I request all my family members, fans and all my well-wishers to pray for me.”
He has been a regular member of the Pakistan test team. So far he represented them in 16 Tests and 6 ODIs. He holds one unique distinction of scoring hundreds on his Test debut as well as ODI debut. In his 16-Test career, he already scored 1180 runs with 4 hundreds.
He also completed his 9000 first-class runs during this match against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Earlier in the Bangladesh tour, The Pakistan opener was chosen as Player of the Series in the 2-Test match series in which he scored 263 runs in 3 innings.
